Every value on this page is an answer from the Natto data API: market state, price and indicator context, labeled price moves, and data timing and quality. What was knowable at the chosen time is kept apart from what only hindsight can tell.
Point-in-time answers contain only data that had arrived by the requested time. A backtest that ignores arrival times sees prices it could not have had and looks better than it really is.
Wording as served by the API once connected (GET /v1/definitions, no_lookahead).
Synthetic session
Every number on this page comes from a generated, fictional session served with synthetic: true. It is not a real market day, and its symbols are not real stocks.
The session is representative only: a hand-set generic market model with a bursty open and a stand-in membership rule, so the shapes are plausible but no value describes any real market. The response envelope, the store manifest and this page all carry the label.
This server answers without a token (local development mode). A hosted copy must require one: the market state and indicator values on this page belong behind authentication, with per-token caps.
Replay the open with your own latency profile: the clock decides when each print, bar and state counts as known; the extra latency is your own downstream delay. Hindsight answers take no clock.
..:..:.. ET on synthetic
Point in time synthetic
Only what was known at the chosen time. The API answers from data whose known-at time is at or before it; nothing later leaks in.
Market state membership only
Price context last five-second bars
Indicator context closed-bar row
Price move so far
Data timing and quality last minute
Raw response
Hindsight synthetic
These answers use data after the chosen time: the session's labeled price moves, and what a hypothetical entry at the chosen time went on to do. The API serves them on separate endpoints, and this page keeps them on this side.
